Big Business 14 uses a new Database and is a Universal application that runs natively on Macs with Apple or Intel chips and runs natively on Intel processors for Windows.
Because of the massive number of optimizations enabled, pre-release versions began testing almost a year before ceritfication of its Database and final release in April 2023.
This Chapter includes the most important changes that are specific to Big Business 14. General changes to Big Business are covered elsewhere.
Big Business 14 updates the Form Tool used for creating and editing custom forms.
Use the Tab key to move to the next field for data entry. Use Shift-Tab to move back.
Big Business 14 updates the Tab Order on many screens to help save you time typing.
Using Keyboard Shortcuts you can run the whole program from the keyboard, always. This includes options such as the iPad button or Units column, chosen for your setup.
October 19, 2022: Big Business 14 is available for Macs. It is identical to Big Business 13 but has a new Database, native for Apple Silicon (M1 & M2 processors).
Big Business 13 remains the current product with reduced pricing from July.
Big Business 14 will have new pricing and support for Windows in 2023.
Customer Type Name is a Search option that lets you find Customer Types by Name.
Customer Type is still a search option but only allows Is or Is Not and picking a type. Customer Type Name searches within each entry allowing Contains, Begins With, etc..
Paid Badge automatically stamps invoices being printed with Paid Badge if paid in full.
Invoice Prefs is updated to add Paid Badge. Check the box to include on paid invoices.
Invoice Prefs is in Customer Prefs with Customer Card, Quote, and Order Preferences. You can also set options to Print In Notes or check credit or inventory and much more.
BigBusiness will automatically include the Paid Badge on printouts of invoices, only, that have a paid amount and a zero balance, indicating that they have been paid in full.
Paid Badge will appear in color on PDFs that BigBusiness creates for email, Docs, etc..
Paid Badge will stand out on printouts without color because of its shape and position.
Labels are an option for Customer Types to help with customers who are a few types.
A single type, like CA-Wholesaler, can have labels like Commercial for Type Category and West Coast for Group. You can then search the labels you added to find Invoices.
The pictured search finds all the invoices of all the customers whose Customer Type includes Commercial as the Category and West as the Group and exports these labels.
Type Labels to help manage compound Customer Types are in Customer Prefs in Customer Card Prefs. Simply check the box for Use Type Labels and restart Clients.
Customer Types are updated to search Labels for Customer Types in Invoices Search.
Tags may be used similarly but are not included in Invoices Export as Type Labels are. Type Labels are not available as Columns but are in the Invoices Search, Find options.
This change cleans up unused Customer Types, automatically, to ensure reliable labels. Customers Update and Customer Type Name search may be used for reassigning, too.
Customer Categories provide more options for sorting customers in reports or exports.
This chapter describes how you can provide a name for a Customer Category choice, add to its dropdown list, assign to Customers and use in Searches and Exports.
Export Customer Categories is a setting in Invoice Prefs to change the Invoices Export.
This option includes Customer Categories when you Export, All from Invoices Search.
Customer Categories provide more options for sorting customers in reports or exports.
This chapter describes how you can provide a name for a Customer Category choice, add to its dropdown list, assign to Customers and use in Searches and Exports.
Customer Categories Labels help you search and sort Customers and Invoices by kind.
Set a unique name for each of your Customer Categories, like Sector, Segment, Source. Your Labels are used in Customers, Searches for Quotes, Orders, Invoices, and Export.
Margin shows your profit as a percentage of sell price, measuring the result of pricing.
When you change prices, or have cost changes, margins are updated to help measure the results. Entries for Last Pricing Update and Last Cost Update are also updated.
BigBusiness 15 adds this Upload Menu to the Upload button on Items to help choose.
You may have more than one web store where you link inventory for live updates. You may have more than one option per store to link or upload or create products.
Upload on the Items Search used for creating or linking Products in your web store(s), will show a menu with the names you have assigned (MyOnlineStore) to choose from.
Windows Email setup is a few steps because of the number of options.
BigBusiness can send PDFs of transactions as attachments using Windows email apps:

This requires installing PDF Emailer from our Download page and setting My Prefs.
Upload is updated for BigBusiness 15 to work across multiple Online Stores and work with Auto-Connect options to automate updates for pricing and keep live inventory.
On the Items search, the Upload button may be used to create new Products in your online stores, update existing Products, or link Products for live inventory updates.
