Chapter 296 Read-Only Settings

Read-Only Settings are updated to include more options for viewing and not changing.

For example, Read-Only Searches let you give Search access to view only and not edit. Turn on Quote Search but not Quote for someone and they can view, not edit, quotes.

First turn on Read-Only Searches in Employee Prefs. Then turn off All Access for an Employee and add back Search tools only for the entries they need read-only access to.

  Read-Only Searches

Read-Only Searches allow an employee to open and view search results, but not edit.

If you give Access to Customer and Customer Search an employee can edit customers. If you give Access to Customer Search they cannot open the Customer card to view, unless you turn on Read-Only Searches, then, they can then view the Customer card.

Go to Employee Pref and check Read-Only Searches. Then, give Access to a Search but not the tool itself, so give access to Customer Search but not Customer tool itself.

  Read-Only Access

Read-Only Access lets you open a record, like a Customer, without having Access to the Customer tool to edit or create customers but access to the Customer Search only.

Please let your system administrator know if you need Access to the tool you are using.

  Read-Only Duplicate/New

Read-Only Access disables the buttons for Duplicate and New on read-only windows.
