Chapter 152 Selling in Currencies

Using Currencies adds a few steps for entering sales or purchase in another currency.

This chapter show you how to create customers and enter sales in a foreign currency.

This assumes you have set up Currencies in Big Business which is detailed elsewhere.


  Using Currencies

Using Currencies in Big Business, it is easy to select for foreign currency and printing.

Currencies requires Professional Edition for licensing, and setup to add Accounts for Payables (A/P), Receivables (A/R), Exchange, and Foreign Exchange (FX) Gain/Loss.

You may then enter Customers and Vendors and their transactions in foreign currency, to print easily, and automatically account for currency rates changing before payment.


  Foreign Currency Customer

Currencies lets you create Customers that use foreign currency with a few extra steps.

Create a Customer and on the History tab click Foreign. Then, choose their Currency. Click the Currency checkbox to display amounts in their currency using a preset color.

Before saving, you must assign the Receivables Category that matches their currency. To add new Currencies and Receivables accounts follow the steps in Currencies Setup.


  Foreign Currency Quote

Currencies lets you create Quotes that use foreign currencies with a few simple steps.

Start a Quote for a Customer that uses a foreign currency, and Big Business will switch to Expanded tab, assign their Currency, and turn on the Currency Display checkbox.

You may complete the quote using foreign currency amounts, or to use your currency, switch to the Quote tab, or the Profit tab, or toggle the Currency Display checkbox.


  Foreign Currency Printing

Currencies lets you print transactions that use foreign currencies using regular forms.

In Print Options, use the pulldown in the Settings column to select the FX-Currency. This will print selected forms in foreign exchange currency amounts including Symbols.

Symbols are set following the steps in Currency Setup to Add/Edit the currency entry in the Company card and assign the color used on-screen and Symbol used in printing.


  Foreign Currency Order

Currencies lets you create Orders that use foreign currencies with a few simple steps.

Start an Order for a Customer that uses a foreign currency, and Big Business will switch to Expanded tab, assign the Currency, and turn on Currency Display checkbox.

You may complete the order using foreign currency amounts, or to use your currency, switch to the Order tab, or the Profit tab, or toggle the Currency Display checkbox.


  Foreign Currency Invoice

Currencies lets you create Invoices that use foreign currencies with a few simple steps.

Start an Invoice for a Customer that uses a foreign currency, and Big Business will switch to Expanded tab, assign the Currency, and turn on Currency Display checkbox.

You may complete the invoice using foreign currency amounts, or to use your currency, switch to the Invoice tab, or Profit tab, or click Currency Display checkbox.


  Foreign Currency Invoice Postings

Currencies lets you create Invoices that automatically post to Accounts for Currency.

Clicking the Posting information button on the Categories tab of the Invoice show this. Big Business posts the invoice in their currency to the A/R Currency account created.

Big Business posts the difference for the foreign currency amount to the A/R Currency Exchange account created. The net of these is the amount of Invoice in your currency.


  Foreign Currency Payment

Currencies lets you create Payments that use foreign currencies with a few options.

Start a Payment for a Customer using foreign currency, and Big Business sets the Currency and turns on Currency checkbox. To view your currency click the checkbox.

Complete the payment using foreign currency amounts, then enter Net Amount and/or change the Exchange Rate to automatically post any difference to Currency Gain/Loss.


  Foreign Currency Payment Postings

Currencies lets you create Payments to automatically post to Accounts for Currency.

Clicking the Posting information button on the Payment to show details. Big Business posts the invoice in their currency to the customer's assigned A/R Currency account.

Big Business also posts the difference for the foreign currency amount to the A/R Currency Exchange assigned. These accounts combine to show your currency amount.
