Running Two Big Business Servers on One Computer

Big Business 5.0 supports the ability to run two copies of Big Business Server on one server computer. Many Big Business users operate more than one company (e.g. a retail and a wholesale operation; separate companies under one roof), and need access to more than one data file at the same time.

This Solution provides information about running two copies of Big Business Server on one computer. (5893)

To run two companies with Big Business Server, requires additional (discounted) licensing, and it is recommended that you use a second computer. Depending on usage, though, it is possible to run two copies of Big Business Server on one server computer.

To set up the second copy of server, you need to request a key file from Big Business Technical Support, to make the second copy of server run on a separate port.

To connect Big Business Client to the second server, on the Connect to BB Server window, you enter the IP Address of the server, followed by a colon, and the port number used by the second server.

Big Business Client will remember this setting and automatically connect to the second server when launched. A new entry will appear on the Recent tab so that you can easily switch between the first and second server, or we can provide a custom client, so that two clients can be run concurrently to access both servers at the same time from a workstation.
