Using Big Business on the Web

(5837)

Big Business Web Server lets a Big Business single-user system (any Big Business client) act as aWeb Server for your Internet or intranet users. The Big BusinessWeb server need not be a dedicated machine. You can run the Web server for access by remote users and continue to use that machine as a regular Big Business client. For testing, you can run aWeb browser and the Big BusinessWeb Server from the same Big Business client machine.

When Big Business Web Server is running, authorized users can access (but not
modify) Big Business data using a Web browser. Currently, we support Netscape
Navigator 3.0 and above, for all supported platforms; and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and above, forWindows.

Why Use a Web Server?

A Big Business Web Server gives authorized users Internet or intranet access to Big Business. If you can establish access to the Internet or an intranet, you can use Big Business from aWeb browser. For example, remote users such as sales reps or warehouse employees can use theWeb Server to check an inventory level, find a customer name, or view open orders. Web browser access to Big Business can also be used by managers or casual users who want to combine a read-only use of Big Business with access to the Internet or an intranet.

With the Show PDF functionality, field representatives can print forms such as
invoices, quotes, and purchase orders, or view them on-line. For more information on the PDF viewing or printing capabilities, see the later section Remote Viewing and Printing.
