Chapter 64 Install

Big Business has always taken a couple of extras steps to install. Way back, it took shuffling nine (9) floppies. Now is download-only and requires overcoming security defaults. This chapter provides details to help you Open or Keep Anyway.

If you need help contact support@bigbusiness.com or your system administrator. (7142)

  Send Socket Error

Using Send Mail, to email directly from BigBusiness, you may get a socket error, like, Failed to create a connected socket. This is almost always an incorrect server address.

  Already Installed

Windows Installer will tell you if you already have a version of Big Business installed.

This is coded so it only applies to the same product in the same major version so you can install only one copy of each program. This avoids conflicts among program files.

If you need two copies of Big Business, such as to run two companies, email support@bigbusiness.com for setup help.

  Versions Different

Big Business Client will tell you it is a different version than your Big Business Server.

Check with your system administrator to find out the version of Big Business you use. Get the same major version, such as Big Business Client 14 for Big Business Server 14.

See the bottom of the page for earlier versions or email support@bigbusiness.com to find out what version your company might use and if it is still available for download.

  XPS Document Writer

Big Business uses XPS Document Writer to show you a Preview when printing.

To enable XPS Document Writer in Windows, go to Control Panels, to Programs. Choose, Turn Windows Features On and Off, and turn on XPS Document Writer.

Restart after enabling XPS Document Writer and in Advanced Print Options, set in My Prefs, choose Preview for Destination and Big Business will print and show XPS.

  Custom Delay

Custom Delay allows for a timing conflict with other network operations by delaying.

Custom Delay is enabled on the Advanced tab of the Folder Connection and custom programmed to your needs such as skipping a time for other operations or downtime.

  Last Success

Last Success records the date and time of your last successful import for a connection.

This result can be used in Notifications letting you know that new Orders have arrived.

  Last Empty

Last Empty records the date and time of the last import of all records for a connection.

This result can be used in Notifications letting you know that no records are waiting.

  Last Sent

Last Sent records the date and time of your last successful export for a connection.

This result can be used in Notifications letting you know new Invoices have been sent.

  Enable Timestamps

Enable Timestamps automatically records events as Timestamps with a date and time.

Timestamps include Last Success, Last Empty, and Last Sent, used for Notifications. Enable Timestamps is a checkbox found on the Advanced tab of Folder Connections.

  Chapter 161 Send Mail

Send Mail helps automate emailing and sending notifications to users by sending email. Send Mail is an add-on that sends email directly from BigBusiness, not via email client.

Send Mail adds options such as having Big Business email you a system notification. An example would be emailing when you have new orders received by Auto-Connect.

This chapter describes setting up Send Mail options to support emailed Notifications.
